1 · The syntax in thirty seconds
Everything is typed in the game console, which opens with the F1 key. Five forms are enough to do everything:
The semicolon chains. The + holds for as long as you press. The ~ switches from one value to the other on each press — that is what makes toggles possible. In the binds below, replace [key] with the key of your choice: none is imposed, so you do not overwrite a bind you already have. gametip.showtoast shows a short message on screen: several binds below use it to confirm they worked.
2 · Movement
Run without holding the key
The most useful of them all, on long crossings:
Swim without holding the key
3 · Combat and raiding
Move the weapon to the other hand
To clear your view when you peek. Each press swaps hands:
Hit continuously, crouched
For eco raids: the weapon keeps hitting on its own while you stay crouched.
Kill yourself
When you are stuck in a rock, or when starting again from the sleeping bag is the better option:
4 · Sight and visibility
Zoom in
Key held, the field of view narrows and the interface disappears. Released, everything comes back.
Toggle object quality
Draw distance
One key pushes it to the maximum, the other brings it back to the minimum:
Set the aim radius for objects
The precision needed to aim at something to pick up or open. Three steps on the same key, announced in the chat: MIN, DEFAULT, MAX.
5 · Craft and inventory
A bandage, a syringe
Without opening the craft menu, at the moment it counts. A message confirms the craft:
The big number is the item's identifier, the last digit the quantity.
Multi-craft
A single key starts several crafts in a row, in order. Here, one tool cupboard, two stone barricades and five sheet metal double doors:
Each craft.add takes the item's identifier, then the number of crafts. The game skips the ones you cannot make: blueprint not learned, not enough resources, or workbench out of range. In Inrust, “Create a multi-craft bind” writes this line for you: you pick the items from a grid of icons, a T2 clothing kit for instance, and the app writes the line.
6 · Console and information
Combat log and ping
Opens the console with the log of your last fight and your ping:
The F7 key opens the game's report form: binding it to something else takes that away from you, and takes its records away from Radar. And a key only carries one bind at a time: the last one set replaces the previous one.
7 · Performance
Clear the memory
Frees the game's memory with one press, when frames per second drop after a long session:
8 · Comfort
Hover loot
This one is not a bind but a setting, and it is the most important one in the game: key held, hovering over the items in a box is enough to take them. In the controls settings, put it on mouse3 or mouse4.
Turn the game sound down, or back up
One press takes the master volume almost to the minimum, another puts it back to full:
9 · Saving, and going back
None of this survives closing the game until you have written the configuration with writecfg. It is the command everyone forgets, and that is why binds “disappear” from one session to the next. The file lives here:
To remove a bind, empty its key:
These are not binds: you type them once in the console, with no key to choose.
graphics.vm_fov_scale falsesmaller weapon on screen
client.headlerp_inertia falsethe view returns to the centre immediately after a free look
perf 6every readout on screen: FPS, ping, memory…
writecfgsaves your binds and your settings
Inrust writes the binds from its catalogue into your cfg file, keeps a copy before touching it, and can remove everything at the press of a button. This guide stays readable without it — that was the point.
